Jamie Ruddy

Signed with a literary manager at Gravity Squared

"Telling stories is what I love. The medium – film, tv, novels, immersive entertainment, interactive, branching narratives -- that really means less to me than the act of disappearing into a story. ScreenCraft was one of the few contests I found that had books as an option and I was looking to get my novel published...I feel very supported by the community and have loved the experience so far. I also met a management company through the contest."

Noel Zamot

Signed with a Literary Manager

"Much of the initial feedback for my novel, THE ARCHER’S THREAD, noted how readers could visualize the story in the their mind, and how they’d love to see the book adapted to the screen. This inspired me to not only keep writing, but to submit the novel for consideration to a handful of competitions. Becoming a finalist in the ScreenCraft Cinematic Book Competition was an inflection point that arrived shortly after winning the Gold medal for popular fiction at the Florida Book Awards. These two milestones were confirmation that years of work had paid off. The biggest [result] was being asked to meet the members of Gravity Squared as part of a select group of finalists of the ScreenCraft Cinematic Book Competition. That fifteen minute conversation — which was less pitch and more an opportunity to share my background, approach and inspiration—changed everything."

Daniel Cooper

Signed a Paid Option Agreement

"I hope this doesn't sound cliche but it really is always the passion for the specific story you're trying to tell. The initial spark of an idea and that burning desire to show everyone else that movie you see in your head, that's what it's all about. Option payments and these other kinds of external motivations are less important if you don't fully believe in your story and just love to live in that world for all the hours/months/years you'll spend developing it. We have been ScreenCraft Stans since our first spec feature The Memory Bank became a finalist in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy Competition a couple years ago. The exposure from that and the engagement and care the ScreenCraft staff showed us led to some meaningful general meetings with awesome producers and managers. Everything we have written since has gone straight to a ScreenCraft Competition and we intend to keep it that way as long as we keep writing!"

ADD-ON PRIZE OPPORTUNITY

This optional add-on prize category will grant one eligible writer the opportunity to work with Development Prize partner Emma Kapson of Verve Talent & Literary Agency.

Emma Kapson

Agent, Verve Talent & Literary Agency
Emma Kapson is a native Los Angeleno and Junior Agent and IP Coordinator at Verve Talent & Literary Agency. She started her career in publishing at Regan Arts and has since transitioned to representation. She’s passionate about literature and bringing stories she believes in to life in various mediums like film, television, and audio. She is a young agent looking to build her list and is open to queries of any kind. She primarily works with female authors, has an eye for women’s voices, loves strong, female driven narratives, epic worlds, romance, horror, and works by foreign and diverse writers. Emma signed previous winner of the ScreenCraft Cinematic Prose Competition Kayla Hardy, who will be published by Ballantine in 2026!
This unique add-on benefit is separate from the ScreenCraft Cinematic Prose prizes and placements. Only projects submitted to the ScreenCraft Cinematic Prose Competition AND that select this add-on are eligible for consideration in this category. Additionally, all projects that place in the Top 10 of the competition will automatically be considered.
