Announcing the 2019 ScreenCraft Action & Adventure Screenplay Competition Winners!

by ScreenCraft on February 6, 2020

We are excited to announce the winner of the 2019 ScreenCraft Action & Adventure Screenplay competition. Selected from roughly 800 entries, The Ghosts of Le Griffon by Nicole Ramberg has been named the winner and Dreadlands by Josh Mendoza has been named the runner-up.

In The Ghosts of Le Griffon, a girl searches for her mother after the reappearance of a missing teen confirms supernatural rumors in a town haunted by local legend.

In Dreadlands: Five years after a bear killed his wife on an archaeological survey in the northern Alaskan wilderness, a hunter returns at the head of an expedition to track down the beast and kill it once and for all. But when the team discovers that the survey unearthed long-forgotten magic, revenge for their lost friend will take a back seat to surviving the supernatural monster lurking in the woods.

Vanna Viking by Michael Hahn & Elisabeth Meurer has been selected as the concept winner. After a social misfit disappears, amateur investigators try to find her and uncover a world-changing secret. They will be developing the project with Bad Robot.

The following projects have also been named to the top ten:

Accidental Superhero Mithra Alavi
Black Friday Jonathan Dillon
Blackstone Jack and the Island of the Warshadows Michael Hahn
Chokepoint Tamra Teig
Cold-Rock County Elliot Seidel
Guns and Grace Odin Ozdil
The Hotel Barbers Daniel Woburn

In addition to the ScreenCraft team, the judges included producers and executives at MGM Studios, Bad Robot, Paramount, XYZ Films, and Skydance Media.

Both the Grand Prize winner Ramberg, and runner-up, Mendoza, will receive cash prizes and have their material circulated to ScreenCraft's network of agents, managers, and producers.

Congratulations to these winning writers and finalists, and thank you to our judges and to everyone who submitted projects; we read a number of remarkable scripts.
