2020 ScreenCraft True Story & Public Domain Screenplay Contest Winners

by ScreenCraft on September 23, 2020

We are excited to announce the winners of the 2020 ScreenCraft True Story & Public Domain Screenplay Competition.

The Lions of Mesopotamia by Robin Rose Singer has been selected from nearly 1100 entries as the Grand Prize Winner. Endurance  by Rich Orstad has been selected as the Feature Winner;  Bad Hombres  by Filup Molina has been selected as the Pilot Winner and 'Tis of Thee by Rob Alicea has been selected as the Written Pitch Winner.

The Lions of Mesopotamia is a feature based on the heroic true story of the Iraqi National Football Team's attempt to qualify for the '94 World Cup under the Hussein regime.

Endurance, a feature is based on a true story of an an Afghanistan War veteran who after losing his legs to an IED in 2012, commits his life to completing the Boston Marathon one year after the 2013 bombings and to finish the most important race of his life…his commitment to faith and bringing hope to wounded veterans.

Bad Hombres is a one hour pilot about a hot shot lawyer who is forced to return to the city he dreads, when his troublesome brother is placed on the list for deportation. The faster the lawyer can get his brother out of his immigration troubles and escape his insane family, the sooner he can get back to Los Angeles and try to salvage his job, relationship, and mind.

'Tis of Thee is a written pitch about a fated friendship between a slave and a young French noble, forged in the pursuit of liberty. With 10,000 British Redcoats set to land and wipe out the depleted Continental Army, the fate of this new nation’s freedom now lies in the hands of the slave.

In addition to the ScreenCraft team, this year's jury included executives from Amy Baer's Gidden Media, CNN Films, and Creator Media Entertainment.

Congratulations to these winning writers and finalists, and thank you to our judges and to everyone who submitted projects; we read a number of remarkable submissions.
