2021 ScreenCraft Family Screenplay Competition Winners

We are excited to announce the winners of the 2021 ScreenCraft Family Screenplay Competition.
Built by Hart by Alison Bonn has been selected from nearly 1000 entries as the Grand Prize Winner. Let 'Er Buck by Maren Curtis has been selected as the Feature Winner; Special Treatment by Colin Murphy has been selected as the TV Pilot Winner and Big Shirt by Shaun Radecki has been selected as the Short Story Winner.
Built by Hart, is a feature, inspired by a true story: In the 1930s, thousands of desperate families fled the drought-stricken Midwest and settled in the farm town of Arvin, California. When the community tried to drive the migrants out, maverick educator, Leo Hart, embarked on a mission to help the displaced children construct a school of their own.
Let 'Er Buck, is a feature, about a neglected ranch girl in 1920s America, who runs away to pursue her dream of becoming a championship bronco rider. Taken in by an unconventional female rodeo crew, she must earn the respect of the women she idolizes and the men who decide whether they can compete as she rides her way to the finals. (Inspired by true events.)
Special Treatment is a pilot about a boy, who tries to hide his struggles with a mild form of muscular dystrophy, soon after beginning junior high, but is forced to confront it when an inept vice-principal accidentally broadcasts his disability to the whole school.
Big Shirt is a short story about an unwanted T-shirt that must navigate the tricky fabric of life when it’s salvaged by a lonely teenage outcast.
In addition to the ScreenCraft team, this year's jury included executives from Walden Media, Sony’s Affirm Films, Mischief Productions, and writer and producer, Jeff Pinkner.
Congratulations to these winning writers and finalists, and thank you to our judges and to everyone who submitted projects; we read a number of remarkable submissions.
