Adventure & Travel TV Pitch Contest Winners Announced

by ScreenCraft on May 3, 2016

After considerable deliberation, Treasure Diversconceived by Anthony Short, has been selected as the Grand Prize Winner of the inaugural Adventure & Travel TV Pitch Contest, presented by ScreenCraft, Four Peaks Media Group, and Buffalo 8. Both entertaining and enlightening, the pitch centers on former 1980s metal bandmates turned deep sea diving experts who explore the depths of the oceans in search of treasures and historical discoveries.

The Deportedconceived by T. Gordon Stanley, has been named the runner-up. The proposed series follows deported undocumented Americans who were raised since childhood in the United States, but who are now forced to make new lives in countries they do not know. It's a timely and compelling concept with the potential to generate increased awareness of a macro social issue.

Both of these pitches are expertly conceived, as are the following finalists who comprise the rest of the top ten:

Dinosaur Fish Wars by Rodney Smith

Spirit Man by Greg Roach

Aphrodisiacs From Around The World by Ralston Wells

Worst Place In The World by Penelope Laurence

The Find by Morgan Hansow

Two Lost Black Girls by Caroline Renard

Kickin’ it Caucasian by Jason Bevly

Out Of The Blue by Daniel Simone

"We were thrilled by the quality of the concepts submitted! It made choosing a winner difficult and all of our top 10 have great potential," said featured judge and Four Peaks Media Group cofounder Ben Nemtin.

The Grand Prize Winner will receive a $1,000 stipend, in-person pitch meetings with top adventure/travel TV production companies and networks, in-person consultation and pitch meeting guidance with Four Peaks Media Group, and a pass to Realscreen West, the West Coast's most important and valuable unscripted entertainment conference.

The Runner-Up will receive $500 cash and a phone or Skype consultation with one of the featured judges. All top ten finalists will have their projects considered by a network of agents, managers, producers and TV network executives.

This year's jury included: Jim Roush, Emmy winner and longtime EVP of Production for Mark Burnett; CJ Cardenas, talent manager to Bear Grylls and Head of Business Development and Special Initiatives for Bear Grylls Ventures; Bethany Latham, director of production and development management for Travel Channel, one of Scripps Networks’ Interactive’s lifestyle television brands; Justin Ongert, longtime agent in the non-scripted division of William Morris Endeavor (WME); Barry Walsh, editor of international trade publication Realscreen, the world’s foremost authority in non-fiction film and television, and the brand behind the Realscreen Summit; and Ben Nemtin and Duncan Penn, co-founders of Four Peaks Media Group and creators and stars of The Buried Life (MTV) and Greatest Party Story Ever.
