News: Will Universal Still Produce Craven's TV Projects?
Universal Cable Productions will move forward with the various TV projects it has in development in partnership with filmmaker Wes Craven, who had signed a first-look overall deal with UCB in April.
Craven passed away on August 30th after a battle with brain cancer. He was 76.
Some of the projects being developed included a television adaptation of his The People Under the Stairs film, as well as an adaptation of Daryl Gregory's We Are All Completely Fine for Syfy. The latter follows a psychologist who gathers survivors of five horror-movie scenarios in a support group, only to unlock the evil's of their pasts in therapy. There is also the sci-fi horror series Disciples, set in a future in which our solar system has been colonized by the ultra-wealthy, as well as MTV's Scream, which Craven was an executive producer. The series had already been renewed for a second season.
UCP released the following statement: "Wes Craven was a master artist, a gentleman and it was our pleasure to work with him. It is our intention to bring to life all the projects Wes developed at Universal Cable Productions. Thankfully these projects have benefited greatly from his development and guidance since their inception. They will continue in his honor and spirit."
Wes Craven was clearly one of the greatest horror icons in cinematic history. Have a horror script of you own? Submit it to ScreenCraft's next Horror Screenplay Contest.
