After the surprising success of Fox's R-rated Marvel movie Deadpool, the buzz throughout Hollywood and beyond has people wondering if this will begin the trend of R-Rated superhero movies. It looks as if Fox will be giving fans the R-rated Wolverine movie that they've wanted with Hugh Jackman's apparent last turn as the character in the third Wolverine solo film — currently under the working title of Juarez with with James Mangold returning as the director.
However, what about Disney? Will we be seeing any Disney Marvel R-rated flicks in the future? Probably not.
During Disney's annual shareholder in Chicago, chairman Bob Iger made it clear that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will not be stepping into that territory in the near future, saying quite cleanly: "We don't have any plans to make R-rated Marvel movies."
All of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies have been rated PG-13 so far, and Disney is famous for being the studio behind family-friendly four-quadrant entertainment.
