Stallone to Star in TV Adaptation of Mario Puzo's "Omerta"

by Ken Miyamoto on April 29, 2016

The third novel in Mario Puzo's mafia trilogy following The Godfather and The Last Don is coming to television. Atoine Fuqua is set to adapt Puzo's Omerta for the Weinstein Company.

"[Antoine's] ability to take the adrenaline of action and emotion of drama, weaving them together, makes him one of the best contemporary directors and producers in our industry," TWC co-chairman Harvey Weinstein said, adding: "We look forward to adding his powerhouse strength to our TV division."

Sylvester Stallone is finalizing a deal to star and is expected to play the mafia head at the center of the story.

A network is not yet attached, but the project will soon be shopped to cable and streaming services and the pilot could film as early as this summer.
