Paramount Acquires New Sci-Fi Film By Chris Gorak

After a battle among many different studios, Paramount Pictures is the winner of the new spec script from writer-director Chris Gorak, a sci-fi piece titled Attach.
According to an article published last week by The Hollywood Reporter, Tatiana Siegel wrote, "The script came with a visual test that Gorak directed and sparked a bidding war, with multiple studios involved."
Though plot details are still being kept secret, THR reported that the film is being described "in a similar vein as Chronicle in that it is a big visual concept with a young cast at the center of it." Chronicle, 20th Century Fox's 2012 sci-fi film, made $127 million worldwide.
Gorak began his career as an art director and production designer. He worked as the production designer for Lords of Dogtown (2005) and Blade: Trinity (2004), and as an art director for Fight Club (1999) and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998). He ventured into writing and directing, and is now well know for directing The Darkest Hour (2006) and Right at Your Door (2011).
Attach is being produced by Adam Schroeder, producer of Chronicle and dozens of other films, including A Little Bit of Heaven (2012), Zoolander (2001) and Angela's Ashes.
In other business acquisition news, Cinedigm Corp. announced that it is acquiring GVE, an entertainment unit of Giam Vivendi Entertainment, for $51.5 million. The deal will set Cinedigm to become the largest U.S. distributor of non-theatrical home videos. Check out for more information in the ScreenCraft post, "Cinedigm Acquires GVE for $51.5 Million."
