Melissa Stack to Write untitled Female Revenge Comedy for Fox

by ScreenCraft Staff on December 16, 2013

Screenwriter Melissa Stack has been brought on board by producer Julie Yorn to write the script for an untitled comedy for Fox.

According to an article published by Variety, the project will be based on an original idea -- a high-concept story being described as a "female revenge comedy … in the vein of 'The First wives Club,' but with younger leads."

Paul Feig will produce the film. "I’m always looking for an excuse to gather a bunch of funny women together, and Melissa’s amazing take on this idea really made me laugh,” said Feig. “I’m thrilled to be working with her and excited to really nail our Paso Doble on Dancing With The Stars.”

Deadline reported that Feig and Stack are keeping the project's logline a secret for new, but that it will be "a vehicle for a group of ethically diverse comic actresses."

Stack used to be an attorney until her spec script I Want to F*** Your Sister landed in the top 10 of the 2007 Black List and was preemptively purchased by MTV films. She wrote the scripts for The Other Woman, which will come out next year, and a 2007 short film titled Tependris Rising.

Now that the year is coming to a close, it's time for the Black List, Franklin Leonard’s annual unveiling of the best unproduced screenplays of the year, as voted on by over 250 key film execs. This year, 72 scripts made the cut. Check out the post 2013 Black List Released.
