Louis C.K. Signs Overall Deal with FX Productions

FX Networks is clearly happy with Louis C.K. In addition to already airing his series Louie, the network announced yesterday that it is entering a separate, overall deal with the comedian that will have him developing and producing new series for FX Networks.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the deal will allow C.K. to work with other writers in getting their projects off the ground and running, as well as develop pilots. He'll be working under his production company, Pig Newton, and partnering with Louie producer Blair Breard, who will serve as producer or EP. In addition, C.K will have the option to write or direct any of these projects, serving as EP alongside Bead.
FX Networks has already seen success with Louis, which C.K created, wrote and directed. The series has received multiple Emmy award nominations. C.K. has dozens of writing and development credits, such as the 2013 TV special titled Louis C.K. Oh My God, the 2011 program Louis CK: Live at the Beacon Theater and the 2010 documentary Louis C.K.: Hilarious.
“Working with Louis C.K. has been one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experiences of my career,” said FX Networks and FX Productions CEO John Landgraf, as quoted by Deadline. “I am thrilled that our relationship with Louis and Blair Breard will continue for the foreseeable future through this deal with FXP. So many incredibly talented artists want to work with Louis and follow down the independent and idiosyncratic creative trail he has blazed. I can’t wait to see who he brings through our door, not to mention any new projects that he wants to create for us.”
In other Hollywood news, screenwriter Jeffrey Caine will write the script for a new Hannibal miniseries. History Channel is developing the show, with Halle Berry serving as executive producer. Check out the ScreenCraft post: Jeffrey Caine to Pen Hannibal Miniseries for History Channel.
