Joss Whedon has kept a low profile since last year's release of Avengers: Age of Ultron after he spoke about the stresses he was under during that project and his decision to part ways with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
He has previously suggested that he's going to start writing original material again and direct a new independent movie. He recently spoke with The Wrap, sharing just a few details about his new film:
"It is a story about a girl who goes through some unbelievable sh-t. And that much is all I can say. It is an original screenplay that is very different from everything I've ever done except for that it's exactly the same. It's the first time in my life I'm writing without a sort of studio audience rating - without a plan. I'm just writing about something I care about, so it's a little terrifying and it's taking a little longer. But I think it will be good!"
Whedon said that he plans to finish the script within the next few months but is still dealing with a third-act issue.
You see fellow screenwriters, even a great screenwriter like Joss Whedon struggles with his scripts.
It's wonderful to see that a studio writer like him is taking on original stories as well.
