We are excited to announce the Winners of the 2022 ScreenCraft True Story & Public Domain Competition! A huge congratulations to this year's winners.
Grand Prize Winner
The Devil and Dick Gregory by Sean Slater is a historical feature set in 1963 that follows comedian Dick Gregory who sacrifices his comfortable life as an entertainer to pursue a political career, making him a prime target of J. Edgar Hoover’s deadly Counter Intelligence Program. Based on a true story.
Feature Winner
Hot Girl $ummer by Mary Egan. Welcome St. Petersburg, Florida! It is summer and it is hot! Sabrina Angelotti is a hot girl, completely stuck, and numb all the way through. Needing money, snaps and murders her sugar daddy - her ensuing breakdown proves that she’s not as cold as she once thought - in this thrilling and sexy modern day retelling of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment.
TV Winner
The Second Sex by Sarah Chang Tadayon tells the story of a wide-eyed Iranian Jewish woman who experiences a sexual awakening when she moves to Nazi occupied Paris to study under a famous existentialist philosopher. This one-hour historical drama is inspired by the intimate life of Simone De Beauvoir.
