2018 ScreenCraft Sci-fi Screenplay Contest Winners Announced

Monster Hunter by Sandino Moya-Smith has been selected as the winner of the 2018 ScreenCraft Sci-Fi Screenplay Competition. Impressing judges with its unique sense of humor and clear voice, it centers on a father/son team of cryptozoologists tasked with finding the Loch Ness monster. They soon discover dark secrets beneath the water with massive global ramifications.

Artemis 1 by Nicole Cohen has been deemed the runner-up. Holding our judges' attention with strong, interesting characters, it follows three female astronauts on the first human mission to Mars. Their mission is soon doomed as they must identify the unknown threats attacking their ship.

In addition to the ScreenCraft team, the judges included: Jonathan Wu, Development Executive at 20th Century Fox, the studio behind Avatar, X-Men, Another Earth, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Prometheus, Predators and more! Steven Douglas-Craig, Executive Assistant at Sony Pictures, the studio behind Passengers, Ghostbusters, Men in Black, Resident Evil and Spider-Man; and Michael Doven, the producer of such celebrated films as Mission: ImpossibleVanilla SkyMinority ReportA Few Good Men and The Last Samurai.

Grand prize winner Moya-Smith will receive a $1,000 cash prize and hand-picked industry consultations, while Cohen will receive $500 and will have her script circulated and recommended to ScreenCraft’s network of over 60 managers, agents, producers and development executives. All semifinalists will receive a 50% discount to WriterDuet Pro.
