Today we announced the quarter finalists of our 2013 ScreenCraft Comedy Script Contest. Read the official list here.
Our readers and I have been hard at work culling the top 25% out of more than 400 entries and it has proven uncommonly difficult because the scripts have all been consistently entertaining and full of promise. As a writer myself I always feel a pang in not moving a script forward, because I know how much of the proverbial blood, sweat and tears goes into crafting cinematic stories.
Thanks to everyone who submitted. To those who were able to advance, congratulations! To those that didn't quite make it, do not despair. Don't even fret. Every script faces adversity and setbacks in making it to the screen. Chinatown, Casablanca, The Godfather, Some Like It Hot. All of them were rejected at least once.
Every script our team assessed has potential, and that's not me blowing smoke, which I am quite capable of doing.
Stay tuned for the upcoming announcement of the semifinalists and everyone, please, keep writing. We need original content now more than ever.
