2013 Blood List Announced!

by ScreenCraft - updated on January 6, 2023

As per Halloween tradition, the 2013 Blood List has just been announced. The Blood List is a close cousin of The Black List but consists solely of the 13 best unproduced horror/thriller/sci-fi scripts floating around out there in the development ether, as voted on by over 100 executives. Our independent manager colleague Kailey Marsh has spearheaded the Blood List since 2009, and she partnered with us on our ScreamCraft Horror Screenplay Competition earlier this year.

Without further adieu, here is the 2013 Blood List. Congratulations to the writers!

Revelations (aka Lord of Light)
Writer: Hernany Perla
Logline: A prison psychiatrist meets a death row inmate on the verge of his execution who claims to be the only thing stopping the end of the world. As she begins to investigate his predictions, she finds them to be eerily accurate, and that she may be a central figure in the events to come. 12 Monkeys meets Silence of the Lambs.

I can't speak for the others, but I covered The Autopsy of Jane Doe and thought it was a genuinely scary script with an innovative concept, a tight claustrophobic setting and a compelling father/son story.

What's great about the Blood List is that it celebrates and focuses on a specific type of script, thus eliminating genre bias in the judging process. That's the mandate we share with our contests and why we go genre by genre. Institutions like the Blood List prove that if your writing is strong enough, it will get noticed.
