The Machine is a play by Matthew Charman about a famous 1997 chess match, where chess grandmaster Garry Kasparov competed against an IBM computer named Deep Blue and its designer Dr. Hsu.

Charman developed the play with and premiered it at the Manchester International Festival, as a co- production with Donmar Productions. The play had its U.S. premiere earlier this month at The Park Avenue Armory in New York City.
