Matthew Perry and Danny Jacobsen to Co-write New Take on 'The Odd Couple'

Matthew Perry and Danny Jacobsen are teaming up to co-write a project based on Neil Simon's classic story, "The Odd Couple".
Perry will sere as executive producer and star in the project. The new take on the classic story will take the form of a multi-camera comedy project for CBS that has received a script commitment and penalty.
According to Deadline, "for Perry, doing 'The Odd Couple' has been a dream 24 years in the making." He said, “Ever since seeing the movie The Odd Couple when I was 10 years old, it has been a dream for me to play Oscar Madison,” he said. “To be given the opportunity to develop a modern version of it for CBS has put a permanent smile across my face. I met up with a wonderful writing partner in Danny Jacobson. We both have such a passion for the source material that we have instantly become obsessed with making this great. Plus, I think it’s time for me to be in front of a live audience again. I miss that. The search for Felix Ungar is on!”
Perry wrote "Imagining Emily," the TV movie "The End of Steve" and several episodes of the TV series "Mr. Sunshine." Of course, he's much better known as an actor and has appeared in more than 30 TV shows and movies, including "The End of Steve," "Childrens Hospital," "Mr. Sunshine," "The Good Wife" and "Go On."
Jacobsen has written multiple TV series, including "Simon," "Rosanne," "My Sister Sam," and "Two Guys, A Girl and a Pizza Place."
