Victor Piniero over at Big Spaceship made some well-chosen points in this fun slideshow.  These slides are an entertaining reminder about some important basics of storytelling - particularly HOW to plot the hero's journey.  While there's no formula that fits all stories, this presentation does a great job of hitting the beats of many action / adventure stories.  The outline of SIGNPOSTS that start on slide 46 are especially interesting.  Check it out:
