News: Fox Orders Pilot for "Greatest American Hero" Remake

FOX has greenlit a pilot production commitment to Greatest American Hero, a remake of the classic 1981 superhero TV series. The pilot will be a single-camera sci-fi dramedy show. 

Rick Famuyiwa, writer-director of Dope, is teaming with 21 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie writer/directors Phil Lord & Chris Miller on this new take on Steven J. Cannell's famed show about an ordinary man who is given a superpower suit he never asked for and must deal with the complications it brings to his life.

Miller, Lord, Seth Cohen and Tawnia McKiernan will executive produce the series and casting is well under way to find the leading man. Lord, Miller, and McKiernan's previously attempted to remake the show last season that had Rodney Rothman on board.

William Katt and Robert Culp starred in the original series which ran for three seasons on ABC and featured one of TV's most memorable theme songs.
