Announcing the Spring 2019 ScreenCraft Film Fund Recipients

Leading development consultancy and screenplay discovery platform ScreenCraft and Santa Monica-based media financier BondIt Media Capital have announced two recipients of the Spring 2019 ScreenCraft Film Fund backed by BondIt Media Capital

The first recipient is El Cadejo Blanco, a feature film that tells the story of a working-class girl in Guatemala City as she infiltrates a dangerous teen gang, seeking to uncover the truth about her kidnapped sister and to get revenge. Actor Tony Revelori of Grand Budapest Hotel is attached to star and the film will be shooting in early 2020.

The project is helmed by Justin Lerner, a filmmaker from State College, PA, whose films have previously been selected for the Toronto International Film Festival and SXSW.

The second recipient is feature documentary Parkland RisingThe doc follows the high school students and families who became fierce leaders of a national movement for gun reform following the shooting of 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High in 2018. With unparalleled access, this documentary goes behind the news headlines to share the personal stories of the students leading the movement, as well as the families of victims who are working together to create meaningful change.

The project is helmed by Cheryl McDonough, a documentary filmmaker and producer twice previously nominated for her work on MTV's True Life series.

The ScreenCraft Film Fund is administered biannually in amounts up to $30,000 to talented filmmakers with projects that display singular talent, originality, vision, impact and development potential. The program accepts documentary and feature submissions in addition to short films and online series.

ScreenCraft provides ongoing creative development and BondIt (with sister company Buffalo 8 Productions) offer guidance and resources throughout the project’s production. Previous ScreenCraft Fund recipients include filmmakers Samira Shackle, Jonathan Machado, Mary McGuckian, Owen Kean, Haya Fatima Iqbal, Alex LanipekunNatasja FourieTom Botchii & Sam Kozel and Dani Bailes and Alexis KorycinskiDanny MaddenChris Osborn, Matthew Thorne, Farraz Khan, Colin & Megan Gray, and Natasha Ngaiza.
