Now Accepting Submissions: The ScreenCraft 2014 Pilot Launch TV Script Contest

by ScreenCraft Staff on July 1, 2014

While yesterday we announced the quarter-finalists of the 2014 ScreamCraft Horror Script Contest and our Comedy Script Contest is still accepting shorts and features, today we complete the hat trick with the launch of our second annual Pilot Launch TV Script contest, accepting hour, half hour, webisode and non-traditional comedy series pilots.

We often get asked in regard to our feature contests if we also accept television scripts, a question this announcement should affirmatively answer. We treat film and television as wholly separate entities because, really, they are. The structure for each is entirely different, the kind of storytelling is often distinct, and each medium carries different expectations and priorities. Competition for film and tv writers is stiff enough as it is, the two mediums shouldn't have to go up against each other, at least at the writing stage.

Judging and administrating three contests concurrently makes for a monumental amount of reading, so we're very happy to partner once again with Script Chix, who will be offering feedback on pilots for those writers who are interested in getting in-depth personal consultations on their projects. The Script Chix team has impeccable credentials and knows the television landscape exceedingly well. We're looking forward to diving into the stacks with them and finding some fantastic tv scripts worth championing.

Our judges panel this year includes: Jen Gristanti, acclaimed story consultant and screenwriter for NBC's Writers On The Verge program; Ben Simpson, a development executive at HBO; Ari Lubet, a manager at 3Arts Entertainment; Taylor Benzie, a manager at Kaplan/Perrone; Joe Farrell, Director of Development at Funny or Die, and more.
