2019 ScreenCraft Drama Screenplay Competition Winners Announced

Borderline by Kenyetta Raelyn has been selected as the grand prize winner of the 2019 ScreenCraft Drama Competition. To save her son and husband from the clutches of Mexican bandits, a Guatemalan woman reluctantly chooses to smuggle fentanyl across the US border.  But her plan to petition for asylum makes a hard-left turn when she discovers that the recipient of her contraband is a high-ranking detention center official with a nefarious scheme of his own.

Faster Than Horses by Chris & Michael Mul has been selected as the runner-up. An arrogant runner embarking on the Marathon des Sables, "The Toughest Footrace on Earth‚" faces a race against time to survive when he becomes isolated in the desert and a hostage to its harrowing conditions.

In addition to the ScreenCraft team, the judges included agents and managers from LBI Entertainment and Kaplan/Perrone as well as development executives from Fox Searchlight and Paramount Players.

Grand prize winner, Smith, will receive a $1,000 cash prize and hand-picked industry consultations and introductions, while Chris & Michael will receive $500 and will have their script circulated and recommended to ScreenCraft’s network of over 60 managers, agents, producers and development executives.
