2021 ScreenCraft Animation Competition Winners

We are excited to announce the winners of the 2021 ScreenCraft Animation Competition. These exceptional projects were selected by our industry jury from almost 1,300 original submissions. Congratulations to these writers:

Grand Prize Winner

BOBA written by Charlie Fellows

Logline: A young squirrel living in a small xenophobic village finds her world turned upside down when she discovers a human’s pet gecko eating the garbage in her backyard.

Feature Winner

THE IRON SNAKE written by Justus Macharia

Logline: In pre-colonial East Africa, a small secluded tribe lives an idyllic life, but when a prophecy foretells the destruction of their home by a giant Iron Snake, a group of rebellious teenage warriors set out on a journey to kill the serpent. A journey that will test the limits of their friendship.

TV Winner

BATTLE GIRL written by Libby Doyne and Michael Sallee

Logline: Five years after saving the world from cosmic evil, Sara is treading water while her super-friends have moved on. When a threat from the past returns, Sara must figure out if it’s possible to be a hero and an adult at the same time.

Short Winner

ELLIE written by Andrew Rose

Logline: A young boy searches for his lost cat. Things do not go as planned.

RIFTWORLD written by E.R Roberts (TV Pilot)
A ROBIN'S CALL written by Tim Dann (Short)

In addition to the ScreenCraft team, this year’s jury included managers and executives from Disney, Mindshow, and Skydance Animation as well as Oscar-nominated director and writer Henry Selick and Golden Globe-winning producer Lindsay Doran.
