2020 ScreenCraft Sci-Fi & Fantasy Screenwriting Competition Winners Announced

by ScreenCraft on July 15, 2020

We are excited to announce the winners of the 2020 ScreenCraft Sci-Fi & Fantasy Screenplay Competition.

Selected from nearly 1,500 entries, The Anklebiter  by Andy Jones has been selected as the grand prize winner. The Convergence  by Emily Rose Laochua has been selected as the Feature Winner;  Pseudosamina  by Ali Imran Zaidi has been selected as the Pilot Winner; and The Art of Science  by Mark Levesque has been selected as the Short Screenplay Winner.

In The Anklebiter, five years after the Zombie Apocalypse, a couple fighting about whether to start a family adopts a baby zombie they don't have the heart to kill.

The Convergence is set in a world where human souls are the world's last energy source, and a Soul Catcher must defy a controlling regime to find the truth of who she is in order to save what's left of the Earth.

In Pseudosamina, a lonely fixer who's never fit in anywhere works for a 'tech support' company helping people solve normal life problems by taking over their bodies, and searches for a life where she fits, even if it’s not her own.

In The Art of Science, a love-deprived art collector falls for a charming artificial intelligence, but her confession gives him just one weekend to choose between man and machine.

In addition to the ScreenCraft team, this year's jury was comprised of execs, program heads, and writers from MGM, Circle of Confusion, 21 Laps and Agency for the Performing Arts.

Congratulations to these winning writers and finalists, and thank you to our judges and to everyone who submitted projects; we read a number of remarkable submissions.
