News: March 4-6 Weekend Box Office Numbers

Disney's Zootopia scored Walt Disney Animation Studios' largest three-day opening ever with an estimated $73.7 million this weekend, topping the previous March animated opening record set by The Lorax ($70.2m) — which makes it the ninth largest animated opening ever. The film garnered an amazing 98% score on RottenTomatoes and received an "A" CinemaScore from opening day audiences.

Zootopia has played well in its fourth weekend in international release where its cume has grown to $158.8 million, giving it a $232.5 million global cume to date.

London Has Fallen came in second with $21.7 million while Deadpool became only the third R-rated movie to ever cross the $300 million mark as it brought in an estimated $16.4 million this weekend in third place, bringing its overall cume to $311.1 million.

Paramount's Whiskey Tango Foxtrot earned an estimated $7.6 million in fourth place.

Next weekend, 10 Cloverfield Lane opens in 3,200 theaters along with The Brothers Grimsby in over 2,000 theaters, with Focus' The Young Messiah in 1,600 theaters and the Lionsgate release of The Perfect Match in around 850 theaters.
