ScreenCraft presents the 2016 Master Class Series at The Hatchery Press

The Hatchery Press is excited to launch a 2016 Screenwriting Master Class Series, presented by ScreenCraft. Join us for an in-depth, intimate lecture series where accomplished writers and experts dig deep into the specifics of the craft and the business of our field.

We have two incredibly exciting speakers lined up for January:

Thursday Jan 14th, 7:30-9:30 pm: Writing team Michael Colleary & Mike Werb (Lara Croft Tomb Raider, TV show Extant) will cover breaking down structure, style, and techniques of writing great genre, specifically how to craft compelling villains, how to write action sequences, and much more. Thursday Jan 28th, 7:30-9:30 pm: Ellen Sandler (Producer/Writer Everybody Loves Raymond, Coach, The War At Home) will cover writing the TV Pilot. CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS!

Ellen Sandler, Mike Werb, and Michael Colleary are highly experienced teachers of screenwriting and film through their UCLA classes and lectures.

Each class will consist of an hour-long lecture, followed by interactive Q&A from the audience. Because audiences will be small, the Master Class Series offers you a rare and invaluable opportunity: to learn from and converse with successful professionals in a small group format.

The price of admission is $25 for Hatchery Members and $40 to the public. Due to the intimate nature of the series, seating will be particularly limited. Please plan accordingly and get tickets in advance. This event will be filmed.

More About Our Speakers:

Ellen Sandler

Ellen Sandler is a leading TV writing expert, career coach, Emmy-nominated Co-Executive Producer of Everybody Loves Raymond, and veteran writer/producer of hit television shows including Coach and The War at Home. Boasting a long and successful career in television, Ellen is the ideal teacher for the writer who wants to break into television and the entertainment industry. In this Master Class, Ellen focusing on writing a TV pilot and offers concrete advice on everything from finding a story to getting hired on a current series.

Writing team Michael Colleary & Mike Werb

Mike Werb is a native Los Angeleno, writer of The Mask, nominating-committee member of the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror, and is currently working on Unnatural History — a live-action-adventure series for Warner Horizon and the Cartoon Network.

Micheal Colleary has been a professional screenwriter, television writer and film producer for more than 20 years. Having graduated from UCLA’s masters screenwriting program, he is now one of its most popular professors.

The “Two Mikes” have been successfully writing together as a team for 15 years. The duo won a Saturn Award for Best Writing for Face/Off in 1997, an Oscar-nominated film the New York Times lauded as "one of the 1,000 greatest movies of all time.” They've also worked as script doctors and punch writers on scripts from Stephen Kings’ Pet Sematary to Collateral Damage.  21st century accomplishments include being one of six credited screenwriters on Lara Croft: Tomb Raider starring Angelina Jolie, and the WB's flashy flop TV series Tarzan starring Travis Fimmel's abs. Werb and Colleary worked intimately with Arnold Schwarzenegger on Collateral Damage, his last major motion picture before becoming Governor of California.
