News: Spiliotopoulos Set to Write Sony's "Charlie's Angels" Reboot

by Ken Miyamoto - updated on January 20, 2022

Evan Spiliotopoulos, screenwriter behind last year's Hercules and next year's The Huntsman Winter's War, has signed on to write the upcoming film reboot of the Charlie's Angels franchise at Sony Pictures.

Elizabeth Banks will direct and produce the film alongside her husband and producing partner Max Handelman.

A hit TV series in the 1970s, the premise followed three female detectives (Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith) who worked for a mysterious benefactor named Charlie (only heard as a voice) and his representative Bosley.

In 2000 the property was revived on the big screen with Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu starring as the girls. McG helmed both films in the series and though the first went well, the second bombed at the box office.
